At the beginning of 2001 the technical development of Betsson.com was initiated.
2002 saw: gets a bookmakers license in London. Betsson launch – in English and Swedish. As one of the first sites in the world, Betsson launches Live betting in the Exchange.
2003 saw: Cherry becomes a shareholder. Language version in Finnish and German is launched. June - launches casino games. More then 20 world-class casino games become available on the site along with exciting tournaments and big Jackpots.
2004 saw: launches in Czech Republic and Norway - Betsson Poker launches together with partner Ongame, the largest poker network in the world.
2005 saw: reach 100,000 customers and launch Danish, Turkish and Icelandic versions. Betsson became a fully owed subsidiary company of Cherry, quoted on the Swedish stock exchange. After an extensive review The Global Gambling and Gaming Group certified Betsson as a responsible gaming site. The certification meant Betsson actively prevents and counteracts problem gambling. Betsson acquired the group’s online casinos, CasinoEuro.com and CherryCasino.com. Betsson launches Mobile Poker, a Java applet making it possible to play poker on their mobile phone against the same players and in the same network as on the site. Betsson launches traditional sports betting with a wide range of international sports.
2006 saw: launches Turkish Poker in Turkey. Betsson's first scratch card is launched. Betsson's main offices move to Malta. Betsson launches a self-developed betting platform – the Sportsbook. Betsson, including the company’s online casinos has more than 400,000 registered customers.
2007 saw: launches Games. Betsson launches betting on stocks and indexes with Betsson Trader. Betsson.com launched in Spain, Italy, France and Greece. Live-betting is launched in the Betsson Sportsbook. Betsson launches Bingo on the Swedish market. Betsson launches a membership loyalty program that gives customers points by how much they play.
2008 saw: launched in Hungary, Holland, Serbia and Peru. Betsson challenges the Swedish state monopoly and opens the first non-governmentally operated land based betting shop in Sweden.
